The Conversation Most Women Never Have
Your Ears and Brain Deserve Attention Too
Most women are never told that breast cancer treatment and menopause can affect their hearing. Too often, muffled conversations, ringing in the ears, and mental exhaustion are written off as stress, fatigue, “chemo brain,” or getting older. They shouldn’t be.
What You’ll Learn
What the Research Suggests About Women’s Health and Hearing
Breast Cancer Treatment
Some breast cancer treatments, including certain chemotherapy medications, may affect hearing and tinnitus. Learn why knowing your hearing before treatment matters, and what to watch for during and after.
Menopause
Estrogen receptors have been identified within the auditory pathway. Learn how the hormonal changes of menopause may influence hearing, tinnitus, and “brain fog.”
50
The age Dr. Darrow recommends for your first comprehensive hearing evaluation
Modifiable
Hearing loss is recognized as one of the potentially modifiable risk factors for dementia
Treatable
Hearing loss and tinnitus can both be treated. You never have to “learn to live with it.”
